Set in 1933, Gareth Jones (James Norton) is an ambitious young journalist, now notorious for an interview with Adolf Hitler. Using his connections he secures an official pass to the Soviet Union, a State shrouded in secrecy. While attempting to interview Stalin he travels outside of his permitted Moscow boundary and travels unofficially to Ukraine. There he discovers the horror of the Holodomor – a man-made famine that killed millions of native Ukrainians in the 1930s.
Inspired by the story of Welsh journalist, Gareth Jones, who travelled to the Soviet Union and uncovered difficult truths.
